So the Bucks are keeping Seung-Jin?

The Bucks press release announcing the Magliore trade to Portland seems to imply that the Bucks are keeping the 7'3'' South Korean wonder stiff Ha Seung-Jin. I find that hard to believe. Why would they do it? What do they see in his primitive skills that makes them think he can add value to the team? Do they even have room for him?

It makes such little sense, in fact, that I sense yet another bluff by GM Harris. Desmond Mason and Terry Porter know all about those.

SIDENOTE:
Did you notice the use of the word "certainly" in the Bucks press release? "Certainly" is the laziest, most meaningless word in the English language. (If something is a certainty, the reader ought to recognize it as such). In fact, because it is so useless, its inclusion in any communique often lends an ironic effect -- it suggests the assertion being made is one that is actually open for doubt.

Thus I interpret the language used in the Bucks press release "[Magliore] was certainly a factor in our making the play-offs", as one more subtle shot by Bucks management at the Little Cat Who Could Not Roar.

Larry will keep him on the roster as the last allowed 15th contract....UNTIL he finds someone else he might want to sign....then Ha gets dumped. But for now, to dump him the day of the trade would prove too much and be bad PR.....

He'll wait until the day of a Packer preseason game, then drop Ha and sign some pedestrian SF.

Dead on. Blake, however, didn't do poorly against the faster and less physical PGs of the west. Anybody that can be an asset out here has gotta be a plus.

But Press, they do that all the time, don't they? They waived Anthony Peeler as soon as he arrived (was that Grunfeld who did that?). They waived that high school kid Leon Smith on the spot. I think you're right, though, he'll quietly throw the guy out.

I feel like I wasted so much time on Magliore speculation. It turned out to be such a pedestrian deal.

Portland,
I'm not too worried about Blake. His job will simply be to get the Bucks into their offense, and then hang back and pop threes if his man sloughs off of him. With the Bucks offensive weapons, he'll get a lot of those "Steve Kerr" type opportunities that he probably never got in Portland. And he can convert those.

Hey Press,

Do you think Steve Blake was the "high" profile player that Watergate guy on RealGM told us the Bucks would land for Magliore?

That whole series of back and forth comments was more entertaining than anything the Bucks have done in a long time. Especially when they had the back and forth about Homer True and the legitimacy of his tennis scholarship. I couldn't stop laughing.

Later.

I think the high profile guy was Troy Murphy.....but who knows...I wouldn't put it past Larry to leak stuff out to some people around town (or through conduits to Woeffel) just to get Magloire's value up.

I did find that whole Deep Throat thing humorous....that guy reminds me of fortune teller from the National Enquirer....extremely entertaining, and if he throws enough up there, some sticks....that said, I'd like him to keep posting....it's entertaining stuff.

The best part is now he's got an copycat on that board in the form of "Little Cleo" who is claiming another deal is coming.
