Not that Jazzed up

The Bucks looked awful last night. The Utah Jazz completely outclassed them in every way. The Bucks main defensive weakness going into the game was poor perimeter defense. However, throughout the contest last night the Bucks displayed no interior defense either. The frontline starters for the Jazz were able to get any shot they wanted in the lane.

A simple comparison of the combined productivity numbers of the Bucks starting frontcourt (Patterson, Redd, Bogut) versus the Jazz starting frontcourt (Kirilenko, Boozer, Okur) tells the entire story.

Jazz frontcourt..........Eff48: 36.67

Bucks frontcourt............Eff48: 17.56

That was your ballgame right there. The Bucks were undersized up front and completely dominated by the superior Jazz players.

The Bucks clearly need Charlie Villanueva back in a bad way. They could also use the defense-stretching shot making of Bobby Simmons, but that seems a long way from happening at this point.
