Damir, we hardly knew ye

Milwaukee's loss is Tulsa's gain. According to Bucks.com and ESPN.com, my boy, Damir Markota is being shipped down to the Bucks minor league affiliate, the Tulsa 66ers. The move will have virtually no impact on the Bucks rotation, but it will have a serious impact downtown. Who will buy shots at Taylor's now?

Seriously, demotion is a good thing for Damir. He was doing nothing but warming pine in Milwaukee. And you can't get better on your ass. Going down to the developmental league will afford him the chance to actually get on the court and advance his skills. And then we will hopefully see a new and better Damir ready to go next season.

So here's one for the road, for a nice guy, Damir Markota. We will see you when we see you, buddy.

(Note to Tulsa 66ers fans and those who hang out in downtown Tulsa: In Damir you are getting one of the great young drinkers in the Association. If you see him out, buy him a drink for me. He will reciprocate. He really likes Jack Daniels. He claims to have started drinking it when he was 14. Oh, and he thinks American drinking laws are stupid. Thus, he regularly violates them. So pay no attention to his age.)

You would do well to let Damir know what God thinks of all this:

Proverbs 23:
29 Who has anguish? Who has sorrow? Who is always fighting? Who is always complaining? Who has unnecessary bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? 30 It is the one who spends long hours in the taverns, trying out new drinks. 31 Don't let the sparkle and smooth taste of wine deceive you. 32 For in the end it bites like a poisonous serpent; it stings like a viper. 33 You will see hallucinations, and you will say crazy things. 34 You will stagger like a sailor tossed at sea, clinging to a swaying mast. 35 And you will say, "They hit me, but I didn't feel it. I didn't even know it when they beat me up. When will I wake up so I can have another drink?"

Damir will not only blow up his basketball career but damn his soul in the process if your assessment of Damir is accurate.

1 Corinthians 6:
9 Don't you know that those who do wrong will have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshipers, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, 10 thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and swindlers-none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of God.

If I am a drunk married man who is gay and prostitutes on the side while stealing from my clients and I worship Billy Idol, will I get into heaven? I think so.
