The Selling of Mr. Yi
If you thought the Bucks wouldn't milk the Chinese market for all it was worth, you better think again. No sooner did they sign Yi Jianlian than the exploitation of his profit potential began.
Check out the Bucks website. Is that Milwaukee in the background, or Shanghai?
And how about the Chinese lettering? Who is that aimed at? The only Milwaukeean I know who might have a shot at deciphering those Chinese letters would be Long Wong, and I'm sure they're not meant for him. The Bucks have officially gone international.
I just hope with all their fancy new cosmopolitan sensibilities, they don't forget us provincial beer guzzling louts here at home. You know, the people who actually attend Bucks games.

Most definitely Milwaukee. And the Chinese is just simply Yi's name in Chinese (neither Yao nor Yi have names that are anywhere close to common in Chinese, kinda interesting). Didn't the Rockets have a fairly comprehensive Chinese site?
If I were you, I'd start publicizing the already established Chinese Yi Fanclub in Milwaukee. The more involved they become, the better it'll work for everyone.
Oh C'mon Ty...this is good stuff....let's face it, we weren't going anywhere and this Yi thing has the potential to be huge.
The bottom line is that there will be about 40x more Chinese people watching Bucks games this season every night than people in Wisconsin watching Bucks games.
What's worse, having to wade through some Chinese URL links to accomodate millions of really nice people or paying $80 million dollars to Glenn Robinson and Tim Thomas just to have them insult us by loafing through games and practices?
The Bucks are smart enough to realize how important this is to the team.....I'm more than happy to ride along on the bandwagon.
Yi is good people. I love that the Bucks are trying to become other countries favorite team because nobody in the US outside of Wisconsin cares about them. But now we have the Australians and the Chinese! I bet Herb Kohl pushed Harris to draft Yi because he needs to make some money somewhere.
On a side note, I read an article on espn.com about the US basketball team and apparently Coach K thinks Redd is A-OK at defense.
